Free Social Media Image Resizer
Resize an image for your next post, profile picture, banner, or thumbnail with the CornerCopy Social Media Image Resizer. Upload your image, choose a preset or enter custom dimensions, and download the result without a watermark.
You can adjust the crop, move the image within the frame, change the background, and choose JPG, PNG, or WebP output. Everything happens inside your browser.
How to Resize an Image for Social Media
- Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF image.
- Select a social media preset or choose “Custom size.”
- Check the output width and height in pixels.
- Choose Crop, Fit, or Stretch.
- Adjust the position, zoom, and background.
- Select your download format.
- Click “Download Resized Image.”
For GIF files, this tool exports a still image rather than preserving the animation.
Check the live preview before downloading. Make sure faces, text, logos, and other important details remain inside the frame.
Choose the Right Resize Mode
The best resize mode depends on whether you want to fill the entire frame or keep the complete original image.
Crop: Fill the Entire Frame
Crop fills the selected dimensions without changing the proportions of your image. Parts of the image may be cut off when its original shape differs from the output shape.
For example, turning a landscape photo into a square post usually removes some content from the left and right edges.
Use the horizontal and vertical position controls to keep your subject in view. The zoom slider lets you crop more closely.
Fit: Keep the Complete Image
Fit places your entire image inside the selected dimensions while preserving its proportions. When the shapes do not match, space remains around the image.
Choose a background colour to fill that space. You can also enable a transparent background when exporting as PNG or WebP.
Fit is useful for product photos, logos, screenshots, and designs with text near the edges.
Stretch: Match the Exact Dimensions
Stretch changes the image to match the selected width and height. It can make people, objects, or lettering appear wider or taller.
Use this option only when changing the image’s proportions is acceptable. For most photos, Crop or Fit gives a more natural result.
Resize Images for Different Social Platforms
Instagram Image Resizer
Choose a square, portrait, landscape, or vertical preset for your Instagram content. A square frame works well for many product photos and graphics. A taller frame gives you more room for vertical designs.
For Story or Reel artwork, select the vertical preset. This tool resizes still images; it does not create or edit videos.
YouTube Thumbnail Resizer
Select the YouTube thumbnail preset to prepare a landscape image for your video. Keep the main subject clear and make thumbnail text large enough to read on a phone.
You can also prepare channel banner artwork. Check the platform’s preview before publishing, because banners can be cropped differently across devices.
Facebook Image Resizer
Use the Facebook presets to prepare post images, Stories, cover artwork, or profile pictures. Check the crop carefully when converting a wide photo into a square or vertical image.
Keep important content away from the edges, particularly when preparing cover artwork.
LinkedIn Image Resizer
Prepare images for LinkedIn posts, profile banners, company covers, or profile pictures. Use Fit when you need to preserve an entire logo or graphic.
For banners, leave room around text and branding so they remain readable when the platform adjusts the display.
TikTok, X, Pinterest, and Etsy Images
The tool also includes starting sizes for vertical artwork, headers, Pins, product images, and shop banners.
Presets are convenient starting points. Platform requirements and display behaviour can change, so check the upload preview before publishing important artwork.
Resize an Image Without Cropping
Select Fit to resize an image without removing any part of it.
Enter your output dimensions, choose the background colour, and review the preview. If your original image has a different aspect ratio, the tool adds space around it.
To avoid both cropping and added background space, use custom dimensions that match your original image’s aspect ratio.
Resize an Image Without Stretching
Choose Crop or Fit to preserve the proportions of your photo.
If you are entering custom dimensions, enable “Lock current aspect ratio.” This keeps the selected output proportions consistent when you change the width or height.
Remember that resizing cannot restore detail missing from the original file. Enlarging a small or blurry photo may make its softness more noticeable.
Choose JPG, PNG, or WebP
JPG for Photos
JPG is useful for photographs and other images where a smaller file is more important than transparency.
Adjust the quality slider to balance appearance and file size. JPG does not support a transparent background, so choose a background colour when using Fit mode.
PNG for Transparency and Graphics
PNG is useful for logos, screenshots, text graphics, and images that need transparency. It preserves sharp edges well, although files can be larger than JPG.
Enable the transparent background option when you want empty areas around your image to remain transparent.
WebP for Smaller Image Files
WebP can provide compact files and supports transparency. It is useful when your destination accepts the format.
If an application rejects WebP, download the image as JPG or PNG instead.
Tips for Better Resized Images
Start with the largest clear version of your original image. A higher-resolution source gives you more room to crop without losing detail.
Use Crop when the image needs to fill the frame. Choose Fit when the complete design must remain visible.
Keep text, logos, and faces away from the edges. Review the finished image at a smaller size to see whether it remains clear on a phone.
Resizing changes pixel dimensions. The final file size also depends on the image content, format, transparency, and export quality.
Private Image Resizing in Your Browser
The resizer processes your selected image locally in your browser. Its resizing function does not need to upload your photo to a server.
You can use the tool without creating an account or installing software. Large images may take longer to process, especially on phones with limited memory.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this social media image resizer free?
Yes. You can resize images and download the result for free without a watermark.
Can I enter a custom image size?
Yes. Select “Custom size” and enter your preferred width and height in pixels.
Can I resize an image without cropping it?
Yes. Choose Fit mode to keep the complete image. You may see background space if the original and output aspect ratios differ.
Why does my resized image look blurry?
The original image may be too small for the selected output dimensions. Enlarging an image increases its size but does not recover missing detail. Start with a larger source image when possible.
Can I make the background transparent?
You can keep empty areas of the output transparent by selecting PNG or WebP and enabling the transparent background option. This setting does not remove a background already present in the original photo.
Does the tool resize videos?
No. It resizes still images. Story, Reel, and Shorts presets provide vertical image dimensions for artwork.
Can I resize an animated GIF?
You can upload a GIF, but the downloaded result is a still image. The tool does not preserve GIF animation.
Will resizing reduce the file size?
It can. Smaller dimensions and lower JPG or WebP quality often reduce file size. The result also depends on the original format and image content.
Can I use the resizer on my phone?
Yes. Open the tool in a modern mobile browser, upload an image, adjust the settings, and download it. Smaller output dimensions may work better on devices with limited memory.
